Ryback present his paintings for the first time in 1915, at the Kiev spring Exhibition, most of them were modernist as for their style, but inspired by Jewish topics.
In 1917, Ryback participated in the Moscow Exhibition of Jewish painters and sculptures, the critics assessed him as " one of the most brilliant and ingenious artists".
Ryback taught drawing and painting at the Jewish Children's Studio in Kiev; designed several stamps; he prepared the sketches of the stage sets and the design for stage construction for the first performance of the Kultur Lige.
In spring 1920, Ryback was one of the organizers and participants of the exhibition held by the Kultur Lige Arts Section in Kiev.
Within that period he participated in the activities of the Circle of Jewish Writers and Painters, and collaborated with the Moscow Jewish Chamber Theater
His ceramic sculptures created in his last years of life show the same sentiment. An exhibition of his ceramics was held in early 1935 in Musée National Céramique de Sèvres, and later the Museum purchased some of Ryback's sculptures for his collection. In February 1935, Ryback went to England to the opening of his exhibition at the invitation of the Cambridge University Artistic Society. . In May 1935, Ryback returned to Paris, full of ideas that he did not succeed to realize. Due to dramatic worsening of his severe chronic disease he was forced to go to the hospital, where he spent the last months of his life.
Ryback passed away, on December 22, 1935.
In 1926,Ryback began to play an important role in the artistic life of the French capital, which was evidenced by his two one-man shows in the Galerie aux Quatre Chemins (1928) and in the Galerie L’Art Contemporain (1929). The style of his paintings changed in this period: Ryback left cubism and began working in expressionist vein à la Ėcole de Paris. He won recognition beyond France as well. In 1930 his one-man show was held in The Hague, in 1931 - in Rotterdam, in 1932 - in Brussels and Antwerp.
